Kids Cancer Project

Write a Book in a Day

"Write a Book in a Day" is a unique fundraising event where students work in teams to write and illustrate a book in just 12 hours. The competition promotes creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving, with all books being shared with children undergoing treatment in hospitals across Australia.

This project is a major fundraiser for The Kids' Cancer Project, a national charity dedicated to funding vital childhood cancer research. The money raised helps scientists find more effective and less invasive treatments for kids with cancer. For example, in 2024, the event raised over $920,000 for this cause.

This is critical as cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in Australian children. More than 1,000 children and adolescents are diagnosed with cancer each year. While the overall survival rate has risen to over 80% due to research, a significant number of survivors suffer long-term health issues from their treatments.

Thanks to the dedication of these young writers and artists, and the support of the community, The Kids' Cancer Project is bringing us closer to a future where every child can overcome cancer and live a long, healthy life.
